The Missing Children

During the ‘80s in Ireland, thousands of children were taken from their mothers and placed into custody of the Catholic Church. In a home run by Catholic nuns, you would expect a loving, nurturing environment, where the children would be cared for, but the opposite occurred – 796 children’s bodies were found in the septic tank of the home, more were trafficked to other countries, and others are still unaccounted for. This Topic Original Documentary Series explores how such an unimaginable atrocity could have taken place, and exposes the ongoing implications of those acts.

This shocking Oscar nominated documentary challenges former Indonesian death-squad leaders to reenact their mass killings in different cinematic genres. These perpetrators of the Indonesian mass killings in 1965 and 1966 have been held up as heroes, controlling their mythology within their culture. Their participation in this documentary sheds light on the gruesome acts and reality of their choices. . Though it seems too horrible to contemplate, this documentary zooms in on the tragedy and works to help the viewer understand how such an atrocity could have taken place.

The original show that inspired the hit, Homeland. While Homeland began with the return of one POW, this series takes you into the lives of three freed POWs after 17 years of captivity and their re-acclimation to society. When the show begins, two men have been released after painstakingly slow negotiations, but the life they return to is very different from the one they left behind. Returning to their families they realize that what they once knew no longer exists, and what once seemed simple is now incredibly hard. , Complicating matters is realizing that they’ve become a certain type of celebrity in their native Israel: their names on bumper stickers and billboards, synonymous with heroism. Their struggles will keep you glued to the screen.
